Yoga Classes and Ayurvedic Therapy in Limerick

VINIYOGA

This approach is referred to as the Viniyoga of Yoga.  The aim of Viniyoga is to apply the tools of yoga to the individual's specific circumstances - respecting their needs, lifestyle and current state of health.

We use both dynamic and static posture work  to stretch, tone and strengthen the body.
Posture work can also help to reduce physical tension, promote relaxation and help you to feel more refreshed and awake.
Breath in the postures is central to the practice.  Proper breathing strengthens and increases energy, generates a sense of calm and reduces tension in the postures.
Sound can be used with posture work. It can enhance the posture by helping you to stay engaged, can be energising and create a sense of  opening and release.
Seated breathing and chanting are included to bring a sense of quiet and stillness.  This allows for a meditative and reflective quality to the practice.

The Mind:  When we start Yoga, we become aware of the activity of our minds - how  incessant thinking prevents us from being present to the here and now and to be clear in our thoughts.  We develop an awareness and some detachment and notice how difficult it can be to maintain focus and concenration. Over time, the practice of yoga can help us to quieten our minds, think and focus more clearly and find some peace and respite from the exhausting treadmill in our minds.
Key points:-
At first the practice takes into account each student's starting point -  it may be necessary to adapt the postures in order to respect any limitations which present themselves.
Students will learn the  precise use of the breath as a powerful tool to influence our physical and mental well-being.
The process moves from a practice adapted to our limitations towards one that stretches our abilities.
Ultimately, Yoga is an evolving process.Yoga     starts from where we are, moving towards greater physical well-being to discovering a greater awareness.
The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali can be regarded as the primary classical text on Yoga.  It was compiled around 2000 years ago and is the back-bone of this approach to yoga.  It is primarily a book on the psychology of the mind.  It talks of how we can move towards the attainment of a steady mind in a healthy body.
